Chef – Stewarts Broomhill

An 8th Generation business that knows about plants and everything about gardening. It’s our passion! But we also love good homemade food, locally sourced or home reared, fresh and seasonal.

Catering is a very important part of our business and we are looking for foodies to join our team at our Coffee Shop at Stewarts Broomhill Garden Centre. We pride ourselves on the high quality food and service we offer together with a fun and happy atmosphere.

We are on the look out for an extra team member. Someone who loves their food and would like to help us produce outstanding quality for our customers. You will be working alongside our Head Chef helping produce lovely meals and run the kitchen in his absence. Experience in a similar business and relevant catering, health & hygiene training is required.

The vacancy involves working Tuesdays to Fridays and alternate weekends with a fixed day off during the week working from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with late nights until 8 p.m. on a rota basis once we are back open on Thursday evenings. Please note own transport is required due to our countryside location.

Commis Chef – Stewarts Christchurch

We are very proud of the food we offer here at Stewarts. We are slowly increasing our food range since we reopened our Coffee Shop to the public and not surprisingly, we are becoming increasingly busy. We are able to prepare fresh, locally sourced produce and make good quality food for our customers.

We are on the lookout for 2 Commis Chef to join our team working alongside our Chefs in our Coffee Shop at Christchurch.

Previous experience would be preferred, however a passion for food is a must!

Initially based on salad and sandwich preparation, this role can evolve and lead to additional training in order to assist the chefs in the preparation and service of lunch meals also.

Coffeeshop Assistants – Stewarts Christchurch

We are on the look out for warm outgoing people to join our Coffee Shop team in Edwards Coffee Shop. We aim to provide an outstanding experience for our visitors and need people who can contribute to making their visit exceptional. We work hard to make working here pleasurable, but our Coffee Shop is a fast paced and busy environment so you will be kept busy most of the time.

Duties will include dealing with customers face to face throughout the day either serving food, cakes, preparing hot drinks as well as operation of tills and clearing tables. Applicants should possess good communication, team working and customer service skills as well as having a good level of health and safety/hygiene knowledge. Previous catering experience in a similar environment would be an advantage, but is not essential.

Outdoor Plants Supervisor – Stewarts Christchurch

At Stewarts our plants matter more than anything. We want to be the best plant retailers ever, offering great quality in a really friendly environment.

An opportunity has arisen at Stewarts Christchurch to join our Outdoor Plants team on a full time basis, assisting the Buyer/Manager in the running of the outdoor plants department.

Horticultural knowledge is important and experience in a retail environment on a supervisory level is essential. Candidates will have a hands on approach but the role will also include the need for computer knowledge due to internal systems used for orders and stock. Good communication and team working skills are required as is the desire to deliver a high level of customer service. Please note that some heavy lifting will be involved as this is a physically demanding environment. A forklift licence is ideal but not essential.

The position involves working an average of 39 hours per week
Mondays to Fridays and alternate weekends (non-negotiable) with a fixed day off during the week – 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. weekdays and Saturdays and 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sundays

It will also include working late nights on Thursdays until 8:00 p.m. on a rota basis (once we are back open on Thursday evenings) and assisting at Company events as and when required.

Coffee Shop Supervisor – Stewarts Christchurch

Catering is a very important part of our business and we are looking for a Coffee Shop Supervisor for a hands on role assisting the Catering Manager in ensuring the highest standards are kept in all areas of the coffee shop.

You should have at least 2 years experience within a similar role and you will be expected to supervise the operational areas and staff in a manner that ensures first class service. You will help the team to meet the required standards, being an excellent motivator with loads of enthusiasm!

Kitchen Porters – Stewarts Broomhill (Wimborne)

We are recruiting 2 Kitchen Porters to join our Coffee Shop team at Stewarts Broomhill.

A Kitchen Porter’s job will be to support the kitchen team in all aspects of the kitchen other than cooking, however opportunity to progress within the kitchen and work alongside our chef is available to the right candidates.

Duties will include: operating the dishwasher and keeping the wash-up area clean and tidy, washing pans and pots used by the kitchen staff and cleaning of other areas as and when directed Keeping the Coffee Shop yard swept and tidy and clear of any debris or rubbish and cleaning staff room/office floor daily. Please note own transport is essential due to our countryside location:

Comms Chef Apprenticeship Opportunity – Stewarts Abbey Garden Centre (Titchfield)

Catering is a very important part of our business and we are looking forward to investing in someone who loves their food and who would like to pursue a career in hospitality. As an apprentice you will be working under the supervision of our Head Chef helping produce lovely food and gaining essential skills along the way.

This is a 12-month course which is carried out at the workplace 4 days a week (Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday) with a day release for College and coursework. There is some flexibility on these days depending on what day the College day will be set. To provide this training we are teaming up with Havant & South Downs College and there will be opportunity to progress onto further training at Level 3 at the end of the course to the right candidate.
